I have a pair, but am thinking it might be worth it to upgrade to a later model, AMT-1A?(B)?From what I understand, the cabs are the same, just have a passive woofer in the back. I also suspect that the crossover might be different.
If it is possible, I would buy the passive woofer, router out the back, mod the crossover if needed, and I'm in business.
Anyone know if this is possible?

For what it's worth I recall reading somewhere that passive radiators actually have a bit more overhang than ported boxes. I admit this surprised me because I though passive radiators are basically port substitutes. Perhaps with the latest computer design software today and the Thiele/Small data for the woofer you can redesign the box for a different port with better response.
Any chance you can get the Thiele/Small parameters for the woofer? If you can then you can use the on-line software to model the passive radiator/woofer combination before you start cutting or spending money.
I doubt a crossover modification would be necessary.

I'd say there's a chance the woofer is different on the passive version. Also any stock crossover can be improved and one that old needs new parts regardless of improvment.
