Sure, but my point remains - unless it's double-blind, subjective testing isn't worth much. You can convince yourself you hear almost anything.

test the difference in this case. The individual placing or removing the bricks would always know! Single blind, yes.
Fortunately, the issue is moot today as the industry has addressed the underlying issue behind the use of the EMF dampers (bricks).
Conventional transformers have been replaced with toroidal and R-core transformers which exhibit one tenth the level of stray magnetic field.
Sure, in some situations it's difficult/impossible to do double-blind testing. My post was in response to the previous one about an electrical socket being a "magic bullet". Doing a double blind test on electrical sockets is an example of a situation where it's probably not feasible.
My point was that without such double blind testing, you can't know whether that socket is actually making any difference (because you can convince yourself that you hear a difference where none exists, as I did when I was messing around with VPI bricks).
I can't begin to tell you how many times I have deluded myself. It's nice to have a disinterested party check what you think is an improvement. I used to shanghai my teen aged girls into listening tests. Both could hear well, and the older one has perfect pitch. I'd make some changes, and often they'd say, "Dad, I don't hear any difference". And then, suddenly, I couldn't hear any difference, either. It was single blind; but it worked pretty well.
