I was lucky enough to stumble across the HF 81, HFT 90, HFT 94 ( separate am and fm tuners) and a MX 99 multiplex. I gather the HF 81 is considered to be something special when it is working properly. Does any know where the multiplex goes with the HF 81 and the tuners? And any suggestions on who does fine restoration work on these pieces? Thanks Norm

I had that setup myself. I love the AM tuner. AM never sounded so good.

If cost is no object, Sam Kim is your guy to redo the HF-81. For a much more moderate cost, I like the work of Craig at NOS Valves. Good luck and happy hunting.
The output of your tuner plugs into the MPX and the stereo outputs of the MPX go into the Tuner input on the amp, though the AM-FM input will work as well. Both are the same, functionally, as are the Aux inputs.
The HFT-90 should have two jacks on the back. One is the mono output; the other is a detector output. The latter should be connected to the input of the MX-99. I don't remember which jack is which on the HFT-90, and I am too lazy to go downstairs and look! :-P
Manuals for all of them are available on the EICO Yahoo group. E-mail me if you need copies and cannot easily access the group.
I'd love to have an HFT-94; just sayin... :-)
Haven't had my HF-81 "on line" for years now... maybe I should hook 'er up again sometime soon...
all the best,

Don Sachs restored my Eico HF-81. He did a great job and was wonderful at communicating various options throughout the process. Terrific working with him; top notch work IMO. You can reach him via http://www.dsachsconsulting.com, if interested.
