In Reply to: RE: David, JBL L100, 4311 (studio version of same) or L110 should be in this price range. nt posted by viridian on August 27, 2011 at 12:54:12
If you listen to classical, jazz, folk or anything else with natural instruments, L110's should be high on the list. They are far more neutral than the L100 and you still get the great build quality and dynamics.

I agree. I have the L100's and L110's.The L100's are a very "pleasant" speaker to listen to and may cover up some flaws in the recording. The L110's will accurately bring out all the details including the flaws. Nice tight, punchy bass very much like their highly respected PA speakers. As you mentioned, solo acoustic instruments really shine.
You can tell a lot of time and effort were put into designing the the L110's. Very impressive looking woofers. I believe the original versions have the Alnico magnets.

In fact, the L200 would be the only JBLs I would buy. Having used them in the sound studio I worked, I can vouch for their potential.
A popular very budget JBL might be the L36, but watch out for the foam surrounds. BTW, there are not too many JBL tweeters I can tolerate...
They do look nice! I never heard them but I am all ears!

Wait a minute IT, the best bang for the buck {I think} would be these from JBL
I have heard MOST models ............. No K2's or Everest etc.

I started listening to only lps when CD players came out. Cost. I went to record shows could buy lps for 3 bucks and if it didnt hit me could trade or sell it. And it led me to the best music I could find. Tubes combined with a decent TT is just great to my ears. LPs have gone up in price but I have enough from the early times of buying that I dont have to put out the money some do at shows. And if you are patient and look there are still some great deals. Just have to look for music not a pc that you can brag on. sorta off the topic but changed my listening habbits.
And so it goes to this day. You guys know a lot more then I do but to enjoy music is my only desire audio wise.
