hi,
i have been eyeing on a JVC RX1050 Superfine Receiver for quite sometime.
its style, its colour, its design and buttons look exactly same like a the XL-Z1050 CD Player.
the receiver are packed with many fanciful features:
-digital AP ???(with selection of 5 room sizes, 3 wall types, 5 different liveliness)
-SEA digital equilizer,
-CSRP (??? what is that?)
-PEM D-D converter
-prologic....etc
-fm tuner (a very decent one)
-Phono Input(not tested yet, dunno how it perform )
these features actually looked too "advanced and complicated", as i basically play only 2 channel and believe in "simple n less is MORE". so i will have hard time learning to use them to create THE SOUND that i want.
i believe the receiver(630W) belongs to the same series and sonically on par with the acclaimed CD Player.
this is the main reason why i finally bought the receiver.
Below is the sonic comparison made with the accuphase E202 int amp (as power amp, with audiophile power cord )and 6A5 tube Preamp whereas the JVC Receiver use only stock cable:
-very good details and equally musical and natural sounding
-smooth extended highs
-accurate,less colour mids
-mid bass a little too much and lower bass a little lacking
(i have not tried to play with the SEA equilizer yet. maybe it will help?)
wanted to have make a A-B comparison of the JVC(as power) with the Accuphase e202(as power) using the same tube pre.
too bad the JVC does not have a external pre-out and main-in connection.
this is the only thing that bothers me.
anyone have same or similar JVC receiver experience to share?
i tried but in vain to search for the RX1050 spec and review, not even one.
i salute the team of JVC engineers who made this great product, i think they deserved equal respect like Kenwood "Delta" elite engineers.
Follow Ups:

Hi there.
All of the original specs & photos are at the link below.
The power output is: (8 ohm)
Front: 120 watts per channel
Center: 70 watts
Rear: 30 watts perchannel
Cheers,
Bobbo :-)
The RX-1050 is listed in my 1997 Orion, 1991, no power output listed, msrp $1,500. It would certainly have been TOTL.
I had a JVC JR-S501 from the late-70s with a very powerful 120 wpc that was extremely well-built. Bought it new and chose it over the SX-1250.
