Hi Pat,I can't tell you more as I have not tried the tants at all, but am familiar with the problems of the Vishay S102s compared to the Caddocks, Holcos and Resistas as well as some others that didn't make the final cut....
Follow Ups:
dear rcrump,I am planning to use some good resistors for the signal path in the amp. I've already used Riken (0.5W and 1 W), Kiwame (2W) and Mills (5W and 12W) in my amp. But for signal path, I would like to try something better.
I have 12 resistor in my signal path (6 for each channel, then 3 for each tube in one channel), so buying 12 Vishay is quite an investment, so I would like to know your opinion on what resistor to use.
I've seen +ve and -ve opinions on Vishay S102 on the AA, but no one is conclusive. Same with the Tans.
Thanks
Pat
I like .5w Resistas primarily with a smattering of .5w Holcos just to warm things up a bit, say for feedback....The Caddocks don't focus very well and the Vishays don't image correctly, but are squeaky clean so pick your poison, but you can't go wrong with Resistas with a touch of Holco.......Power supplies love the Resistas BTW.......The Resistas will only work well when the power supply diodes are soft recovery types as they are bright otherwise.....Vishays have their place as do Caddocks, but not used by themselves in the signal path......IMHO, of course.....
