I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this, but I am looking for outboard FM multiplex adapter recommendation(s) for a vintage mono tuner. It does not matter if it's tubed or SS, just that it works well. Any idea how much to pay for one? Thanks.

OR would I need to by a new PCB etc? What are the advantages of the 4500?
I have the UK (Wales?) made Studio12 kit in my 'tuner'.
Is the 1800 VERY noisy or is the noise up around 38Khz?
TIA

Hi GR,
I'd like to second the LM4500 kit offered by BobF, works very well, easy to assemble and good quality PC board.
There is a web page, with additional info, linked below

The LM4500 board and chip is still available for $33.
Having a board and Mouser parts list makes it really easy.

Build it yourself! DIYer extraordinaire Steve Bench has done all the hard design work. I've uploaded the schematic.

Guys,
Please keep in mind that there were two "generations" of multiplex chips. The "second" was a definite improvement and had much lower distortion. As I remember the 1800 was "first" generation. The 4500 may be "second". Look at the spec sheets.
Charles
Thank very much, I will certainly look into it.
