I am not prepared to shell out for a new set of Western Electric. How do Svetlana's stack up when compared to JJ or others?

Follow Ups:
Hi,In MY OWN SYSTEM and TO MY OWN Taste I liked the Valve Art (both Nickel and Copper Anode) as well as JJ LEAST of all the 300B's that so far have come my way. I would descrive the sound as forward, edgy, agressive, even after extensive burn in. Compared to the Valves I found more to my liking (Svetlana, TJ, WE) there also seemed less detail, less well rendering of the small things in the music, which sometimes where plainly not there. The Sovtek/EHX are softer in sound than the JJ/VA's and more to my liking, they are currently also ridiculously cheap, especially when purchased directly from the factory.
As I gather from the comments here others do not neccessarily feel the same, but I would add that my own views of these valves where also mostly reinforced during a group test "part" with some friends where all the valves at hand (JJ, Sovtek, Sovtek/EHX Ceramic Base, VA Nickel Anode, Svetlana, Cetron, WE new production, TJ Solid Anode ST Shape, TJ Solid Anode Globe shape and TJ Mesh Anode Globe Shape) where tested blind.
In the end, with all these valves around I found myself allways wanting to go back to the TJ mesh Anode Globe Valve. And that is what has been playing for the last few month. I even prefer the TJ to 45's, if only for their extra power and authority.

You were the first on the Asylum to report to all of us on the TJs.Steve
I haven't heard the svets. but I have the JJs, and I like them better than the WEs in my system. I also have on hand, the TJs, VA nickles, Cetron, etc. My favorites of the bunch are the EHs. WEs and TJs are GROSSLY overrated.
YMMV

The TJ sound better. Alot better.

So much for following the rules and ethics.

Under asylum rules, I am allowed to answer direct questions. Since the question was where can I find Full Music Tubes? I simply answered a direct question. This is obviously allowed under asylum rules. I try to be careful of ethics, after all I didn't give prices, or opinions of my tubes. Jack, I know you don't like these tubes, and you're entitled to your opinion, but lighten up dude!twystd
....to know better.
Telling someone they can buy from you, as well as giving the info on how to contact you IS an add.
Since your post was deleted, the moderators seem to agree. weather or not I like your tubes, doesn't mean you can use AA for your personal gain.

I am not affiliated with either of the companies. I was just trying to tell Audioman where he could get them and what the deal was with the companies. In the future I'll be sure to just post the URL to the websites.Charlie G
.
Both Valvotron in the US (www.valvotron.com) and DIYHIFISUPPLY in Hong Kong (www.diyhifisupply.com) carry TJ tubes. There is one other (sophia?) but thier prices are higher.Valvotron does (I think) a little more burn-in and re-tests them. Both are the same price at $275/pr for the meshplates. DiyHiFiSupply is having a sale for free shipping for TJ tubes for now. DiyHiFiSupply also supplies curves with the tubes (on a sofia curve tracer) so I would think they do some additional testing/burn-in as well.
DIYHiFiSupply has a 30-day warranty for tubes, Valvotron a 90-day. DIYHiFiSupply only takes Credit Card orders via PayPal.
This is just what I could gleen from thier websites & from correspondance. I'd urge you to email or call them both & visit their webpages and confirm the details before ordering.

You might want to check out TJ (Full Music) 300B's as well.I heard the 300B Mesh/Perf Plates ($275/pair) at VSAC and they were VERY nice. I also heard some of the 2.5v 300B Mesh Plates in a couple 2A3 amps and they sounded great in those too.
But beyond that, in Thorsten's review of the DIYHIFISUPPLY Billie 300B amp, he listened to a pair of the regular 300B solid plates from TJ (Full Music) and said they were close to the performance of the mesh plates. The coke-bottle (ST) version of the regular solid plates are only $150/pair! This price is extremely competitive w/ JJ, Svetlana, and ElectroHarmonix 300B. (Less than any of them, if I'm not mistaken)
I believe in October, EnjoyTheMusic will have a survey/rundown of 300B's.

I have both the WE s and the Svetlanas. The Svetlanas stack up very well. They"re a bargain!
