Go to youtube I think there is still a video on how to do it.You can do it from the top tube side. Wiggle the pick into the side of the pin holder and try to push the two pin sides back together - gently.
addendum - you can get those dental picks locally at CVS or a similar store. I've even seen them in supermarkets.

It would be smart to de-energize the power supply before you start playing with the tube sockets. If you pick is not insulated you might be in for a surprise. I use a small screwdriver that i file down so that it fits in the tube socket and can get behind the socket contacts. Screwdrivers usually have plastic handles so the shock hazard is lessened. cheers. dak

Not that you aren't correct but all the dental picks I've seen use a plastic handle. But yes you are very correct!!!!
