I would have designed the tubes inside the amp with top and bottom vents.
Here is a pretty good 6F8G AA thread. I don't know current pricing on the Tung Sol or National Union round plates.

Yikes!
Just did a quick search & the round plate version of the 6F8G (TS, NU and some others)are going for $200-300 tested matched pair on E-Bay.
The RCA pairs are still reasonable at $60/pair.
Where did you find the adapters? With the adapters can you freely sub them for 6SN7GTs? Were the tubes expensive as my old friend Frihed saysthey are ? What is the range of cost? Trying to get away with not looking it up myself.
The adapters are available on ebay.
With the adapters in place the 6f8g IS a 6sn7.
Looking at ebay you can get them cheaper than premium 6sn7s.
I think you should look it up yourself.

tell you about pricing.

What are the grid caps attached to on the preamp? I have a Metis to and can't see where they might attach to. I am going to send mine into Rogue for the magnum upgrade before I try tube rolling......
The adapters handle connection for the grid cap.

They are a prewar WWII-origin 6SN7GT with basically the same tone(s). I have TS and NU tubes and they have always worked very well as subs for various WWII-era 6SN7GT in both preamps, power amps and head amps I have. However, they have become very expensive.

Yikes,
What happened? I remember buying these tubes for like $5 to $6 ea.
Maybe I should have bought more.
On the other hand I haven't used the ones I did buy and probably never will.

ONE tube I could live happily ever after with, the National Union GG. Luckily, Mike sent a pair of those along, too.
Opus 104
The sound of the GG NU 6SN7s I have tried, is a little to soft and "polite" for me. I am prolly one of a very few who actually prefer the tone of the more common NU black glass. The Black glass tube are fairly neutral and even sounding to me but that is a plus.
Henry, those 6F8G's come in an NU flavor too. Hope you have a bit of fun with them all.
With the grid cap I would worry about noise and stray capacitance. They do look kind of cool, I guess.
