Hope I can get some sage advice. I am operating a Jadis JP-80 preamp with original tubes. The preamp comes in 2 modules (power and control) with the following tubes:
Control Unit (total of 8 tubes): MC Stage (2) ECC 88 Phone Stage (3) ECC 83 and Line Stage (3) ECC 83
Power Unit (total of 2 regulation tubes) : (1) EL86 and (1) EF86
Any recommendations on a very quiet yet musical tube replacement. Thanks much.

Since you seem to like the sound as is, why not just get new of 5the same brands you already have?

I have thought about using the same but after retubing my Jadis Defy 7 amplifier from 6550's to Gold Lion KT-88's, the new tubes and investment were well worth it. I am considering going to Gold Lion tubes throughout the preamp as long as I can limit the expense to around $600 or less. Thanks for your response.
In my limited experience, the GL reissues of the small signal tubes are not in the same league as the Reissue KT-88s.

Low noise is EVERYTHING at MC μV. signal levels. Russian 6Н23П-EB (6n23p-ev) stock that's been carefully culled gets my nod. Tubes labeled 6922 sold under the ElectroHarmonix (EH) brand are 6Н23П-EB.
Noise is a primary consideration in MM phono sections too. The Sovtek 12AX7LPS is clean and quiet, which makes it a prime candidate for the job. The fact that it is priced modestly is icing on the cake.
Noise is not the driving factor for line stage tubes. Here, tone matters. "Reissue" Mullard long plates (also Russian) will provide some of the famous midrange accent.
The sonics of tubes used in regulators is of no particular importance. A EH labeled EF86 should do nicely for that "hole", should the tube currently in situ test weak. The EL86/6CW5 may be a problem. Test what's in the unit now. If it's still strong, leave it be.
Contact AA sponsor Jim McShane and explain your needs. Excellent service and fair prices are what you'll get.

Thanks for the info Ed and taking the time to provide a detailed explanation. There is so much out there that it becomes pretty easy to get overwhelmed.
Both the suggestions Eli gave for the ECC83/12AX7 were spot on. Two others I'd suggest you add to consideration are the TungSol reissues and if the budget will allow, the Gold Lion reissues. All of them very good sounding tubes and all very similar - I guess that shouldn't surprise.
I use 5751s in the preamp section (line stage) in place of the 12AX7s with very good results. You didn't say if you wanted only current production or NOS/OS tubes. The phono section will call for very carefully selected low noise tubes as already recommended. Therefore I would think you will have better luck with current production from a good dealer like Jim. In my own experience current Tung Sols have a very even, clear and pleasant tone. You might want to consider them.
It is a pity that NOS 6922s have become so costly, everytime I see NIB Siemens tubes I want to buy them for their outstanding sonics, but my situation isn't what it used to be financially. There is one 6922 variant that is very quiet and very special which is the Mullard CV2493 or ECC88-01. I really like them for their clear well balanced signal and great tone.
My error not that it matters, you'll have better luck searching for them as CV-2493s. A very special tube indeed.
