Hi.I've been using these blue ALPS for years, being cheap but sonically
pleasant.To make it sound better, I would suggest you to add a bridging resistor, 1% metal film or even carbon composite depending your sonic taste. Hook the resistor across the full volume pin & the wiper pin. Check up my posts here earlier on this same issue.
I would even make the bridging resistor 'inductanceless' by put 2 resistors tightly side-by-side together in parallel, ying-yanged.

Here is a photo from the Head-Fi forum:
from the back (with the shaft pointing away from you), with the three tabs on top, left to right, it's ground-wiper-input.testing : at min volume the lowest ohms between two of the tabs leaves the 3rd as the top (input). Then, at max volume, find lowest ohms from input to the remaining two - the lowest is between the top and the wiper. This is courtesy of Voltsecond's site.
