Welcome to HI FI. Go to the shows and listen to the high dollar stuff that well sounds just wrong. Hey but it looks good and has great specs.
That being said never heard those caps because it is a expensive experiment.
Enjoy the ride

Hi Tom!
My sentiments exactly.
Many years ago a fellow audio club member built an amp for another member using just meters and specs. Although everything spec'ed out properly and when it was turned on it sounded awful. I mean awful. So there he went looking for a problem and there was none except for the fact that it sounded awful. Another member suggested a few small but almost insignificant changes to the circuit(which the builder thought to be nonsense). The builder almost blew it off but with a little persuasion from some of the other club members and the owner of the amp, the builder made the changes suggested. Turned the amp completely around. This is where a meter or scope is not as good as your ears. After measuring the amp again, it didn't measure dead on the way it was before the changes, but it wasn't far either.
Meters, money, etc. doesn't always mean success.

That was the point of this post. Just enjoy it and forget the rest.
Tre'(Asylum member) said it the best when I asked him once about power supply design and using Duncan's to design a power supply. He said it is a real good tool to get you into the approximate zone of where you want to be. In other words, a starting point. If needed, you do the rest by ear.

It's important to measure and listen. Many people seem able to do only one or the other.

I was referring to the story about the amplifier, i.e. perfect measured performance, but sounds awful. And to answer you, 0.1uF isn't always 0.1uF. I do measure caps for matching and accuracy.I would expect a speaker designer to have well-educated ears. I don't spend money on boutique caps, but I'm sorting out some Russians soon. Your comments about Deulund don't surprise me.
