Regulation, not the pass device type, is (IMO) what's important. There are distinct advantages to using a SS pass device, but, as is so frequently important, implementation details govern the quality of the end result. How, rather than what, is critical.

Exactly.
So many tube purists have shamefully downplayed the importance of good solid state devices where they can be very useful in purifying the DC sources without injecting themselves into the audio path.
