I have ventured back into R2R with a Revox G36. My machine did not come with an owners manual. My question is what setting do you I use on the front panel Tape1 or Tape 2, or
Tape1+2? Connecting the tape deck to my preamp. Which outputs should I use? Bob
Follow Ups:
After I play the Revox for about a 1/2 hour it starts to hum loudly. It doesn't do it on the input setting but is on Tape 2 or tape 1+2. Does that sound like a tube going bad? Anyway, other ideas? Also, it seems to distort on loud orchestral passages. On soft passages, the tone is incredibly beautiful. I have been listening to 1/4 track prerecorded tapes and thought it was just a function of the tapes but now think it could be the machine. All your previous help has been sincerely appreciated. Bob

If I read my manual correctly, use "Cathode Follower A" output. You don't need to use the switching dial above the little speaker symbol as it selects which channel feeds the internal monitor amp - the control in the center of the switching dial sets the volume.
And ENJOY it!
