I just scored a nice Pioneer RT-909 and I'm looking for someone to go over this unit and service it (clean heads, replace belt, demag, replace rollers if necessary, etc..) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
One friend recommended the Stereo Doctor in Dublin, CA...... any experience with this shop, or others?

Hi, Jim:
I would like to suggest that you try contacting Dan Dugan for possible assistance with your Pioneer machine.
Dan is the Nagra service representative for Northern California and if he can work on a Nagra, a Pioneer cannot be much of a challenge, I would think!

Dan Dugan. Wow, there's a name I haven't heard in a while!
Just to be sure, is that the same Dan Dugan that was doing the sound-activated mic mixer back in about '75?
Good to see you post, Marantzguy!
Hiya, Inmate51!
Yes, undoubtedly, it is the very same Dan Dugan! Dan is a friend of mine and he is unquestionably one of the best service technicians in the area for tape machines these days.
Dan is also the inventor of the automatic mixer and his patented circuitry has been used widely in the industry. Dan has since developed software-based automatic mixing devices, which are widely being used in radio and television or "multi-media" industries these days.
You cannot do better than this!
BTW, just purchased a pair of lovely Milab DC-196 3-pattern recording microphones to try out in the upcoming recording season ahead!
Cheers!
