My preamplifier has a high gain phono stage capable to handle MC cartridge with output as low as 0.25mv. I can hear the radio transmission about 2-3 feet from the speaker when the volume is at 9 o'clock and no music was playing. It's pretty annoying even though the radio was unheard when music was playing. Is there any method to get rid of the RFI without affecting the sound quality?
Follow Ups:
Is the phono cable which you are using (plugged into the onboard, high gain phono stage), shielded?
Is the case of your amplifier earthed (to mains-earth)?
Regards,
Andy
Do you have an FM antenna nearby? If so, get a ferrite core and put it over the antenna lead as close to the antenna as possible. They come most commonly as split cores to go over coax, but you can also get some designed to go over flat cable.
