Follow Ups:
By the end of the summer, we will see the introduction of the b&w 800. It shares similar size and proportions to the current 802n though is reported to be a major overhaul to the nline. All I know is the new speaker will be available in the same nline finishes available today for around $14-$15k and availble in the silver signature finish for around $20k.
I've been wating very patiently to get a listen to these and keep getting puhed back though my dealer said it sounds pretty firm that they will be availabl by summers end.
Forget the Nautilus 800 and get a pair of Kharma Ceramique 1.0 Limited Edition's, they blew away my old N801's by a BIG margin.
Not too worry, I've been keeping my eyes and ears on Kharma as I'm very impressed. I just want to get a listen to the new 800 which is supposed to be better than the 801 as I have always enjoyed the b&w sound. I can easily wait a few more months....
Is there any info available on these? Was at the dealer this past weekend and he mentioned these to me. Very interested. Is there a press release or pics anywhere???
no press release that I'm aware of and I've heard they had a pair somehere at the last CES show. I've heard rumors stating that only the $20k pairs will be made available at first before the rest of the nline colors. I've also heard that the increased price for the silver signature colors is due to heavier bracing material- not a word of this is confirmed however. B&W never puts up info on new products on the website prior to shipping to dealers. It all seems to coincide together. Unforunately, we'll have to wait a few more months- hell, I've been dying to get a listen since February. not much longer...
For what it's worth, the dealer said that B&W has kept postponing announcing news on this model. He also said that they have changed the price a few times already. Up and down?? He said that the last price he heard was $16k.
While I would tend to agree that your room size is fine for the N802, I on the other hand would be real curious to know if anyone has had REAL success using the N802 in a room smaller than the one outlined here.
My room is 11x23 (8foot ceilings), and although largely happy with my Nautilus 804's. I'm sure the "upgrade bug" will bite me soon enough. Personally, I find the N802 the logical progression, but am uncertain about getting myself into a situation with overloading the room with the N802's.
Comments ?
I heard 802's in a 13x18 room with a 10 foot ceiling run through an all Classe system. It was awful.
Now matter what I did in positioning (speakers and sofa) I could not get the sound to break out of the speakers. Too be honest, I was stunned. The midrange was off as well, but the owner preferred a brighter sound and found it pleasing.
On another note, I heard the CDM 9NT's in the same setup and they had great pacing and rhythm. I couldn't stop tapping my feet. These surprised me too, as I'm not normally a metal-dome tweeter guy. Didn't do any long term listening, so can't comment on fatigue, but I instantly liked them.
Hi,Your listening room is fine.
If you can afford the N802, go for it. The N802 is VASTLY superior to the N803Regards
Vasilis
The silver signature 30 are a hair costly than the 802 and by far are much better than the N802.
there is no reason why the 803'3 shouldn't sound great. But if you have the money, go for the 802's. I use them in a room about the same size as yours and they sound phenomenal.
Hello,I have registered *monk* as my AA name .., so please choose/use a different name.
