In Reply to: RE: New Zylon-Based Speakers that is more like a Musical Instrument than a Speaker posted by tincup on January 03, 2017 at 11:53:05
Sounds like a very interesting speaker, a new NS1000? But I note there is only a statement and no explanation of how it's like a musical instrument. I suspect this is advertising BS to attract those who don't know much about speaker design. Too bad if it does turn out to be a modern NS1000 then the advertising BS may hinder its acceptance from those who know better.

well, if they're ported and don't have any acoustuffing, then they have a resonant chamber not unlike an acoustic guitar except for whatever contouring they're doing to minimize standing waves which could also be considered a form of tuning. that could be one way to justify the analogy.other brands like harbeth, audionote & devore fidelity have also designed speakers with lighter cabinets designed to resonate like musical instruments too.
it's easy to make the case that ALL loudspeakers are "musical instruments"

I think what Yamaha is saying by this statement is their new Zylon-Based speakers can project the music into the room more like real Musical instruments do.
The phrase seems to be filler unless they link it to something functional.
