The new Wilson Wamm prototype was announced at the 2015 CES. And a physical product was shown but not played. I thought that indicated the production examples would come out some time in the next year and certainly the final result would show up by CES 2016. But nothing? Has anyone heard anything more about what could be David Wilson's final design?

Wilson WAMM product launch has been officially announced.
for whatever reason, ss never quite delivers on wilsons, at least in the demos i have heard, mostly with david present. stepping back a few years to the W/Ps, the best i ever heard was the jadis defy 7 driving them.
subsequent listens with both sutherland and krell electronics fell short of what i had heard many other times with audio research, VTL, and jadis electronics.
and yse, i have heard the maxx and alexandria and the other models and then ALWAYS sounded better with tubes to me. the same goes for vandersteen speakers.

They are good on Spectral ....
not many dealers , even in so cal. would like to hear constellation electronics on them. d'agostino as well.

With Toobs , Only SET with High sensitivity speakers works for me, I have heard WA with Toobs and SS , both had different issues , best i have heard WA and smiled , tap toes was with Spectral..Spectral is fast and viceral and has that life like Jump, a good SET does too, only SET and well design SS like Spectral have that IMO. A well built SET have good tone and realism, easily the best of toob, but does require the right speaker to make them go.

those things are true but there ARE exceptions. my ARC sp3a1 is none of that and works quite well with the adcom555II. and nothing hard about the constellation or d'agostinos. get thee to a hifi show asap.

Not necessarily , i was invited a few years back by some i have had past affiliation with when involved in the industry , so i was privy to meeting with Dan D and seeing his then new stuff , as he was travelling , doing his promotional deal promoting his new amps on WA speakers , Luke from VTL was there also and he too was using the same WA speakers ,( different room ) It was a good meeting as i had not seen most there in years, I'm also very familiar with Adcom anything, in stock or modified form ( still have a few sitting, a great back up/test tool) the sound I'm describing is not obtainable from Adcom's ...
BTW 555's are at their best modded and ran in Bridged mode , they are sturdy little buggers ...

i have always liked the WA speakers with big tube power (VTL) and even not so big (Jadis Defy 7s). i have heard them with the constellations but not the D'Ag amps. the constellation experience was wonderful streaming peter mc grath's recordings. magicos (another of my all time fave speakers) also benefited from the Connys.

I have no experience with constellation, BHK and i think John Curl do design work for them, should be good stuff as well as the PS Audio BHK designed mono's , Im hearing really good news about them too ...

But, I have auditioned the Alexia in our local Wilson Audio dealer driven by Audio Research REF 250 monoblocks, REF 5SE preamp and Audio Research CD9. The sound was just as good as my friend's Maxx2 driven by Krell Reference system. Although the Maxx has more presence and articulate bottom end.

I assume that your friend also drives his Maxx 2s with Audio REF 250 monoblocs, REF 55SE preamp and Audio Research CD9. Oh no, it's a Krell system. So how do you know that the missing presence and bottom end articulation are due to the Alexias and not due to the AR electronics? Or, for that matter, the dealer's room compared to your friend's ? Or any other factors like the cable loom or the quality of the mains electricity supply?
Comparisons can be fraught with things to mislead. That's why I ask for a home demonstration in my own room with my own gear for any reasonably expensive component that I am contemplating.
You may be entirely right but how do you tell?
I'm right on Par with you....lots of really uninformed talk on these pages
consideration when auditioning and comparing them. I'm familiar with how the Wilsons speakers react in any given system and listening environment. As you know I'm not specifying any particular difference in detail of sound in each of them, but their overall sound characteristics. True that Krell and ARC do present a different house sound, but time and time again I found that Maxx2 overall sound characteristic have more presence and bass no matter what equipment they're being driven with.
The only other Wilson speakers that did better than Maxx2 were the Alexandria and that was driven by Canary Reference Two Monoblocks, which put out only 80 watts/channel. Go figure eh..
