My reference speakers are B&W 801N driven by Marklevs. I also have a pair of Magnepans 2.7. A long time ago. Very long time ago I used a pair of Yamaha NS 1000M. The other day while browsing at a Facebook page (High End Audio For The Passionates) I am looking at some high end rigs from Japanese owners with some mega buck systems. To my surprise more than one owner has a set of Yamahas in his listening room. I still have these in my basement and the idea of driving them with high end gear has brought about the quesetion if they may still hold up to todays standards.
Q. Anybody have a set running with quality amps?

well, not up to date but if you like the slightly fat sound, those beryllium tweeters are nice.

Yes, I still own the pair I purchased in 1984, and I still use them daily.
After years of bright sound from solid state electronics, I am running them with CJ Premier 16 and 11a tube gear, and they sing! So natural. So musical.

Lovely to read your post and to know that they can still produce quality music provided you use quality electronics. A pic would be nice. Cheers.
Don't know if the video will be of any help, but the pair in question sure looks pretty sweet.
...try them.

They weren't up to date 38 years ago.

There are many who would disagree with you.
I sold them back in the day. ADS 810's clobbered them across the board.
But some people do like them, no doubt about that.

That's what I meant. A lot of people liked them. But taste does vary when no speaker is perfect.
