I've owned a set of DefTech speakers from the mid-90s. Among the five speakers are two BP2002 "speaker arrays" (powered towers).
Recently, I moved only the towers to my 2 channel system to hear what my analog setup sounded like through the big bi-polar towers and was dismayed to hear a nasty buzzing coming from one or both.. so I called up DefTech to find out about fixing them... the tech wasn't there and said they would call... blah blah...
Turns out it wasn't the speakers at all, but the powerful subwoofers went way way lower than my folded horn single driver speakers and found a sympathetic resonance with the wooden panels in the audio rack, making them vibrate and showing I have a shitty audio rack.
Well I forget about the call I made (I should have called back to say forget it) and go on vacation. I get back to find no less than three THREE! very courteous messages from the same tech (and in my rudeness can't remember the name of the guy) actually concerned that my 20something year old speakers aren't working and wanting to try to talk me through some diagnostics etc...
Very cool to see actual "old school" small business like concern for the customer from a medium sized company.
Follow Ups:
I guess they have to compete with GoldenEar now, since Sandy Gross left.
Yeah... I'm a big fan of his designs and I see a Triton 1 in my future.
