...just a cautionary tale. If your speakers' performance is deteriorating try cleaning the cables. Remove the screws from their binding posts and wire brush them clean. The result is a shocking upgrade in performance.

Still using the 5A's ....just bought a new Porsche ....can't afford the 7's too.
...but probably that's not going to happen.

Jeff...try out one of their sports cars... No...not as fast as a Corvette, but if you're a handling kind of guy, you will drive it home. This one is my 4th one...I've been leasing, but decided to buy this one. Leasing is a merry-go-round...it cost 10,000 dollars or so to get into it, and over 1000 dollars a month thereafter, and after 3 years you got to do it again. This one's mine.

I use Caig (Pro) Gold.
It's profesional quality and much better than deoxit from walmart or home depot.
Kontak will be much more expensive (made by privite) and I think Caig is sufficient enough commercial product.
Any deoxit is much better than nothing and never use wd40 :)

...but Google it now and this is what you get: "DeoxIT® Gold G-Series - Contact Enhancer, Conditioner & Protector (formerly ProGold)"
Does anyone know Kontak ....I suppose its the same as DeOxit.
...I recall Kontak from the 1980s as a contact enhancer, not a cleaner, although I see it is now advertised as a cleaner.
Some reviewer back then, maybe J. Peter Moncrieff, said he used on the contacts for the left channel and then compared the two and there was a big improvement.
Or maybe it's a different product I'm thinking of...

And it goes for interconnects too. Plus don't forget tubes also. Just pulling tubes and reinserting cleans the connections. This cleaning affect is also often PART of the reason for hearing chnges when tube rolling and playing with cables.
Excellent things a lot of us forget about I gotta do it now
Bill
Some sort of contact cleaner can be good too. It's good practice to remove all cables and clean all connectors and reattach them at least 1X/year.
