"The Q7 Mk.II costs $229,000 per pair. Q7 owners can upgrade to the Mk.II for $44,000, the price difference between the original and Mk.II versions"

SOTA-level speaker? I dunno about this. I mean, Harley never once said, "the soundstage was so huge I felt like I could get up and walk around in it for an hour." like other reviewers have said about other speakers.
Seriously. How does Harley's comments here dffer from the thousands of other superlative-laiden reviewers' comments about other speakers and products?
Harley said, "I could easily hear the difference in the new diaphragm material in the midrange driver. The mids had greater resolution, transient speed, and more lifelike tone colors. Each note on lightning-fast runs of acoustic guitar was more clearly articulated, making the original Q7 sound slightly smeared by comparison. I could also more clearly differentiate each instrument's timbre, making the overall presentation sound more like an ensemble of individual instruments, each with its own vivid tone color."
First off, it wasn't Harley's system, even if they are close. Just one component can make a rather signifiant difference. Harley said, "Except for the Baetis, this is the same source, electronics, and cables with which I've driven the original Q7 in my home." If this is true, my radar is already way up. I mean, what are the random probabilities of a reviewer and a mtg'er having the exact same system with the exception of one new source component?
Second, it wasn't Harley's room. Probably, not even close to Harley's room.
Third. Harley indicates that he's had the Q7's in his own home. I'm guessing it's been a few years and maybe a hundred or so products ago, in which case his audio memory most likely would suffer a bit. Unless Harley still has the original Q7's in his home, in which case Harley has motive to speak kindly of Magico's upgrade, regardless of what he really heard or didn't hear.
Fourth. Harley said, "yet it is silky smooth and relaxed—just as you hear in live music. The Mk.II's sweetness and ease fostered an immediate relaxation that opened the door to a riveting immersion in the music. The sound had a natural, organic flow that was devoid of mechanical artifice." Here it seems either Harley doesn't know what he's talking about or he speaketh with forked tongue. Perhaps because he knows who's buttering his bread. But I'll save that for another time.
In the end, it seems that if one reads between the lines of Harley's comments, IMO, it sounds like potential hype about very little.

Made from graphene, an amazing material. Last I read, graphene was only supposed to be available in cm squared sizes. Guess it's gone beyond that already.
Don't throw your cigarette butts on the floor. The cockroaches are getting cancer.
Met a custom installer based in silicone Valley. Minimum system cost was a cool $1 mil. He occasionally would dip below, say to $750K, but these were systems in stalled in yachts and planes and whose owners already had the million + systems installed in the home. Then of course there were the yearly upgrades: new projectors and screens...
I believe he did Spielbergs' systems in California and Kauai( Spielberg did NOT want to to have to memorize two different remote systems). forgot to ask the price, but it was a lot (some how 5 mil sticks in my mind)......
Ahhh well, I guess it could be a tax write off.....
from an older version to current production runs about $25M.
I am all for companies building state-of-the-art products. Eventually, we middle-class consumers receive some of the trickle-down technology for "our" products.
It does begs the question- how many pairs, per year, will be manufactured?

Well, they sold out all 50 pairs of the $130k M Project by the time it was publicly announced and before any shipped. I think Magico might have replaced Wilson as the first brand of consideration for the really rich.
The Q1 is potentially accessible to a middle class buyer who has prioritized audio ahead of cars and house upgrades. But personally, I think the S1 and S3 are better than the Q1 and are cheaper.
IMHO.

I am saving up for a Bugatti Veyron, preowned.
Cheers
