Bose 901's?
Follow Ups:
Anything could be an alternative, any more info on what you are wanting and what you will use them on, with?
Golden Ear has an excellent passive tower at $1500.00. I haven't seen prices in ages but possibly even a Dynaudio in the DM series. Decent budget and plenty of options. You could probably get a Monitor Audio Silver series and have a bit left over for some new tunes.
I was surprised to see that Bose 901 speakers are not very expensive at just $1,398.85 a pair. Even with stands, the total is only $1,558.91. I guess I expected them to be more.
A small pair of B&W PM-1 speakers are $3,300 with stands. My current Thiel CS3.7s were $14,700 a pair. I guess I expected Bose to be more expensive. I wonder if they might actually be worth their price? ;-)
It has been years since I've listened to a pair of Bose 901s.
I didnt know Bose 901 costs only as much as KEF LS50.
A great buy it must be.
Cheers
Bill
The 901 was quite good at a large pub I was at. The sound wasn't bright and obnoxious like many places using horns and it spread the sound around the room quite well. For $1400 as background music to fill a large space they should be considered for such an environment. Bose hasn't had their prices rise in ages but that may be a reflection of a more savvy buying public and internet forums.
...there's not a single identifiable brand of speaker in there, to my eye, at least. Maybe someone else will do better.
