... in an unused KEF TDM45B sealed THX subwoofer enclosure.
Original BASH amplifier is dead; trials with another amplifier proved unsuccessful, somehow the original amp was probably equalizing the natural roloff of the woofer in that sealed box.
Let'say I wanna build a new sealed box around that woofer, not knowing the thiele/small parameters... what would happen if, for example, I put the woofer in a box that has twice the volume of the actual box?
complete waste of time?
Follow Ups:
In general doubling the volume will lower the system resonance and lower the Qtc, which will give tighter bass, and decrease efficiency and power handling. But without Thiel/Small it's crap shoot. For instance you could end up with too low Qtc which would actually make the speaker sound bass shy even with the lower system resonance. Why not write to KEF for the parameters. Closed box design is relatively simple with correct Thiel/Small and a book like Vance Dickason's.
You can but plate amps with built in equalizers that allow you to boost the low end. You could use an inexpensive RS SPL meter to help adjust the EQ. You should be able to get pretty good results without too much effort. There are also separate sub amps with built in EQ if you want to use an external amp.

I use that Radioshack SPL meter all the time. Great investment for us audiophools.

But do you have the digital or analog one?
This could verge on total heresy in other areas (vinyl, perhaps).
Just pokin' fun at things!
BTW, I have the analog one...
