I got the ferrofluid from parts express, I bought one set for refilling 2" tweeter, that is enough for both tweeters.
Take the tweeters out, and then use a small flat head screw driver to pop up the membrane. Then the coil and the magnet will be separated. Use the provided paper to take out the old fluid if any left. Drop in the new fluid and then put everything back.
Done. It actually is not as difficult as it seems.

cktc,
I see a boutique business opportunity for you in refurbishing old KEF 107 and 107/2 KUBEs. I'd send mine to you. Even though I don't perceive any distortion, the parts probably could use updating. Seems as though replacing the fluid in the tweeters is something I could do, and those are heavy delicate items to ship.

Without knowing the base oil in the KEF tweeters there could be an adhesive compatibility issue down the road.
I did as suggested on another brand of tweeter and the adhesive holding the voice-coil former to the dome let go.
On another brand of driver the magnet glue softened and the magnet gap pinched to one side.
Do you feel lucky?
No, I don't feel lucky when it come to messing up one of the best sounding speakers I've ever heard. I think I'd be inclined to leave well enough alone. I'd be willing to have components in the KUBE updated, but your warning about the tweeters alarms me.

Given that KEF is an active speaker manufacturer and keeps online museum data, I assume their tech support can provide specification of fluid for the 107 & 107/2 tweeters.
