I've tried doing a search in various places but have not found any info on the difference in sound between these two speakers. I know the 7s will go lower but what else is different? Is the treble a bit less extended in the 7s and are they a little warmer than the Rev 5s? Can anyone give details on the sound and differences?
My room is odd:
9 by 13 and the ceiling is 18ft high.
System:
McCormack DNA 1 Rev. A
Eastern Electric Minimax DAC (first one)
B&W 802s (circa 1981)
VMPS Smaller Subwoofer...both are driven by my McCormack
Thanks.
Follow Ups:
I've built the Carbon 7's for about 12 years now & only recently started showing the REV 5's at the trade shows so not very many people have heard the difference between the two. Both models have very good low bass response. The FS, free air or resonance frequency of the Carbon 7's ScanSpeak driver is 28Hz, the smaller REV 5's Revelator 5.5 driver is 30 Hz! Many 10 & 12 inch drivers do not have this low of FS spec.
Both models share the same tweeter, the REV 5's have a lighter & faster mid/bass driver and have more mid/range definition, the Carbon 7 driver does have a little more punch. Both have a very similar sound.
