The Ushers are in the next province, so listenning to them won't help. There is a dealer for the Paradigm ones here, but they don't have them in stock. So its word of mouth on this one.

It's all good stuff so don't sweat it:O) If this ordeal is seeming a bit overwhelming, then lay back awhile and have a wait and see attitude (or wait and hear)as the case may be. Sometimes the fates will play into your hands. I took a chance on the PM1's when I ordered them and expected to wait quite awhile for delivery, but when I got home the dealer called and said they had arrived! He didn't remember that they had a pair on order already to replace the pair they sold a couple weeks before:O) I knew everything was going my way at that point. FYI, if the B&W dealer thinks he can't sell the PM1's, even after a 5 star rating from What HiFi and a future Absolute Sound (dare I say positive review), you should be able to leverage his bullshit against him and get a really good discount! If he is truly a current B&W retailer, he will want to look good and be noticed as having sold a pair for B&W...just a thought. 20% off should do it.

I called the BW dealer again and got a different story the second time. This time he told me when they first got them in, they sold right away. If after I get the S2 speakers, I cpould always bring them in to the BW dealer and compare them against the PM1 speakers. That way there is a fair comparison.
It is a great speaker, but as you indicated yourself, you do have to address the other issues of power and source etc... Afterall, the speakers are the downstream component(s)...everything else comes before them and it all matters!

Since you've heard the S2 and B&Ws, how would you compare the midrange on both speakers? My B&W 602 had a really open forward midrange that made voices really easy to hear. Yet I have a set of Energy C200 (similar company to Paradigm) speakers that the midrange is so recessed, voices don't pop at you at all. I wonder if the S2 speakers are more like B&W or more like Energy? I've ready people state the S2 was a slightly better speaker then the Nautilus 805, but in what way I don't know. I hope Im not dissapointed in the sound from the S2, as I've already made payments on a pair.

Well, it's all gonna come down to everything else in the audio chain as to what sort of sound your gonna get anyway, right? So, all things being equal however, I think the S2's are a very fine sounding, lively speaker with nice balance. The PM1's work well for me in my smallish space and have a warmish character, almost tubelike in the mids, which I love. In other words, the mids are NOT forward at all, but hugely rich with exceptional integration with the bass frequencies. Either one can warm an audiophiles heart, so no worries mate:O)
