In Reply to: RE: NAZ I just noticed the picture you posted below on the Martin Logans and the SETs posted by Michael Samra on October 16, 2016 at 00:16:48
Photography is another interest of mine ... and we won't talk about cars:)
The other pic I previously posted is from the mag article (not cover). It was a several page spread.
The ARC amps you are referring to are actually early to mid Ref600 monos. I modified them extensively, (converted them to triode mode among many other changes) and this inspired me to try something totally new. I still have them and they sound quite good for PP.
While the ARCs were pretty good, much better than all the SS stuff I'd tried including well revereed amps and even huge Class A monos they never gave me what I was hoping for and so my mods began. Converting them to triode mode was what really got me excited. This made them "musical" (the first hint of that SET 3D quality) and it set me on the path that led to SET.

I gotta ask.... what do you do for a living, rob banks?
no they rob us:)
I've been in business since I was 20, initially designing and manufacturing electronic security systems but these days we make all kinds of things, mostly our own designs but also contract manufacturing for other industries from auto to mining and medical.
It wasn't always great, the first five years I barely ran my car. Plenty of bad periods along the way too including post GFC where we only just survived. Everyone thought we were crazy, back in 95 when we established a new highly automated SMT plant and they were almost right. But we've turned the corner (again) with some awarded new designs.
BTW, I have invested way less than you think in audio. They looked after me on the speakers since they were the first in the country (and first ever in piano finish), and I didn't pay anything like retail for the TT which was a demo. The rest I built myself.

Good on you Naz, looks like your perseverance has paid off .
.
Yes, but do you get good medical care and other benefits for those higher taxes like they do in some European countries? My beef with our Government is what we get for ours. Mostly fat cat politicians.
