This has got me worried as the other 211 still looks the same. The 2 tubes are different makes as the construction is different. But the loss of the shiny gettering has me somewhat worried. I have very little experience with the 211 tube and i wanted to know if there is cause for alarm? thanks for the help, Dak
Follow Ups:
What brand is the one that's turning black? None of my 211s have ever done that. I've only had issues when the silvering takes on a rainbow effect at the edges and has become thin enough to see through, or had faded away entirely.

Buy Chinese. Bury freedom.
Hiya, TK, the markings had rubbed off. I know it was USA made as I bought them maybe 15 to 20 years ago and back then I was totally paranoid about Chinese tubes. Anyway I thought it was a GE. The top ceramic form was not a simple cross or plus like + but had 2 vertical more like # except only 1 horizontal piece. I don't know if that helps. Regards, Dak
Turned back tube amplifier quickly is the possibility of destroying!
High voltage amplifiers (as 211) often has voltage doubler circuit, (sometimes built with SS rectifiers). If the constructions does not contain HT delay circuit, the quick turn back possibly causes catastrophe (HT immediately presents, because HT PSU capacitors is fully charged).
I was wondering if that may be the reason. I was testing some different tube rectifiers but I was waiting about 10 minutes before turning on again. The supply caps drain to ground but not quickly. The amp still sounds good with the tube.
