I've been using my Scott 299C and Bogen MO100A monoblocks for a while with my Cornwalls and want to try a SET amp. I also recently purchased a JM Blueberry with cream as I want to start using some MC cartridges with my vinyl. Looking for good synergy with this pre and the Cornwalls for under 2K. Been doing a lot of research and it sounds like the leaders are Korneff, Wright, Garber, Allen, etc. Would like to hear other's opinions and recommendations.
Thanks

I would jump on the Bottlehead deal. New amp with warranty and latest front-end for best sonics. Large support on Bottlehead site too.
Nothing like dealing with a known seller & latest design.
Check out Niteshade audio. He is very good with SEP's (parallel SET), thereby increasing the power somewhat. While 2-3 watts will work well with Cornwalls, the added headroom of 12-14 watts is more dynamic. The prices are excellent.
Another choice is Min's tube audio lab for any SET
I owned Cornwalls for some years used Bottle Head and Wright Sound 2A3 SET a very good match for not a lot of money.
Bottlehead is another option if you can solder. Can always have it factory built if not.
Bottlehead recently sent out the e-mail below. I don't know if any pairs are still available, but it looks like a great deal to me. The copper hammertone finish is classy (use the link below for a photo). Here's the e-mail:As a lot of you know I have a system that typically uses 7 to 9 pairs of
Paramounts. When the system was originally built we made 9 pairs of
Paramount 300B amps with copper Hammertone painted chassis plates, like the
ones at this link:http://www.bottlehead.com/loosep/docsstash/paramounts4-2.jpg
We sold the original set of nine pairs and made up nine more pairs after
VSAC 2008. And then we sold a few more, made some more Paramounts to replace
them and so on. That later ones we built as replacements were done in nude
aluminum. So now our reference system looks a little mismatched with some
alu amps and some copper painted amps. I decided today to sell the remaining
three pair of Paramounts that are dressed in copper Hammertone. They look
similar the original VSAC 2008 amps pictured above, but they are improved
with our soft start circuit that uses the superior sounding 5670 tube, so
they are electronically just like the current kit production. I'm going to
take it in the shorts a bit in doing this, but I am offering these assembled
amps for the kit price of $1549 per pair plus shipping. That's a whopping
$450 saving over the regular assembled price. You will get a pair of amps
that are maybe three years old, but with the latest improvements like the
soft start and our experimental balanced output wiring. You also get the
assurance that being our reference amps these guys were given exceptional
maintenance. Shawn can probably tell stories about each amp and call them by
name. One point I should mention - these are for 120V AC mains and you don't even
want to ask what we would have to charge to convert them to 240V operation,
as they would need not only new power transformers but a complete
replacement of the power supplies. So this is a 120V only deal, no mods or
changes are included in the sale price.Call us at 206-451-4275 or email Eileen at queen at bottlehead dot com. By
the way, Eileen will be out of town for a few days after tomorrow, so if you
want to get in on this deal it's prudent to call ASAP.Regards,
Doc B. and the Bottlehead Forum Team.
