I have a pair of Fi 2A3 monos. I always wanted to try 45s. So, I got some Bendix 6106 (5Y3WGT) and a couple of pairs used 45s. I put on a Chopin disk from Martha Argerich's "The Collection 1" and am now a convert.
My speakers are 90dB sensitive AN(UK)-KSPe's. So, I guess i'll have to step up a bit into more sensitive speakers, although they really do sound fine in my small room as is.

I have a couple of PP45 amps and they do sound very nice indeed. In the past I had an amp that could run 45's.
But I put together this Type 26 Directly coupled to a 45 stereo amp, from spare parts and threw on a couple of cheap Hammond OPT's.
The thing really has a nice quality to it's musical presentation.
I only use a passive preamp and drive GPA 604's to a fairly loud level.
It sounds very diffrerent from my Ref 2A3 amp. I really like the combination of 26 drving a 45. Maybe at some point I'll rebuild this
amp with a nice chassis better wiring and better OPT's.
But for now this little ugly amp sure sounds sweet!
Have fun

Is this another "modern" power supply or conventional?
I got a cheap used pair of 45's off of EBay.
Have not had the motivation to do anything with them yet.

I used the 2 Hammond 159Y and 159ZA I had on hand, worked out fine.
The PT was a surplus military pull with sec DCR at 35 ohms.
My implementation of 26 driving 45 is very satisfying and its not even optimized as a design.
Go ahead get some music pumping thru 45 pair!
Have fun

A stock vintage 45 tube is hard to beat in either SE or PP with a great phase splitter, of course. I would not even bother with PP 2A3s. 2A3s in SE with the double plate can be upgraded from vintage to say a JJ 2A3-40 single plate to close the gap in-between a 45 vs 2A3 performance.
A 45 is a 'special' tube. I also prefer my 45 amps over my 2a3s. And I prefer my 2a3s over my 300Bs.

I am seriously considering a pair of Tekton Lores, but only after I listen to a lot more music with this rig.

Tekton has a 30 day return policy.......Not much risk except the return shipping fee. I've got a little pair of the 4.5s....Amazing little guys that sing pretty good with my 45 amps.Cut-Throat
