Ran across this event for those in the DC area, July 8-10 in nearby Rockville MD. They have some great equipment and and prizes too.

Deja Vu and Audio Note (UK), even if you cannot afford the products. Many can never forget the sound!
"What did the Romans ever do for us?"
That depends on who you talk to. As far as I'm concerned, the sound at Deja Vu Audio is medicocre at best. The service I received from DeJa Vu Audio was poor. I will never do business with Vu ever again.
The Deja Vu sound is not for everyone, on that I totally agree. Vu would probably be the first to tell you he values musicality over frequency extension - his sound is definitely not for Wilson fans.
I've been visiting Vu's store for years and sometimes a system will cause me to leave scratching my head. Other times it will be magical. This year I hear they'll have a custom designed Jensen Imperial clone...way too big and expensive for me to ever consider, but I can't wait to hear it.
Hi Michael,
Vu once bragged to me that his system design philosophy is to mate extremely warm (colored) sounding electronics with very aggressive loudspeakers. His inability to recognize/produce good sound is the least of his problems. My one and only dealing with DeJa Vu Audio was a fiasco. IMHO, Vu is unprofessional, lacks integrity, and not very bright.
OT: That philosophy is similar to one a seemingly well regarded reviewer was spouting recently. To paraphrase: audio success lies in matching components with vastly different sound/tonal signatures. Bollocks.
Cheers,
R
Be sure to visit Suite 365. Members of he DC DIY Audio group got together and sprung for that one. We'll be demonstrating everything from SET amps to open reel tape and humungous speakers, some of it available, but mostly just for the fun of listening, and sharing experiences about audio.
I will be away for the show, but I wasn't aware of this group. Any details or contacts?
