Anybody familiar with the Italian progressive rock band PFM? I was turned on to them in the early 70's by a keyboard playing friend I worked with. I don't think I ever heard them on the airwaves. Sort of a mix of ELP, early Genesis and King Crimson. Photos of Ghosts was the first album I purchased.
Follow Ups:
They were one of my fav's back in the day. I saw them live several times in Los Angeles. Still playing and recording.
I have never been fortunate enough to see them perform, but I bet it would be a good show.
I've got parts of When The World Became The World from Napster. It was played on Chicago rock radio in late 70's or 80's.
Probably the only Italian band in the collection.
Their album, The World Became the World, got some decent airplay in the Philly area back in the day. I know I played them quite a bit when I worked at my college radio station - WGLS.I think I have most of their 1970s output, including a three-disc compilation, 35 ... U In Minuto, that I picked at an Autostrada rest stop on my first trip to Italy. It was less than $10 and I had some of the BEST octopus stew ever at that place on the highway. I picked up more CDs on subsequent trips.
A waiter I met at an Italian restaurant said if I liked PFM to give Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso and Osanna a listen. I've enjoyed them both, too. Incidentally, I just missed PFM at that restaurant. The band had eaten there the night before!
BTW, PFM is still recording and touring.

Grew up in Reading. Still think this area has one of the greatest concentrations of music lovers in the world.
I have several PFM imports and still enjoy them from time to time.
Italian, marxist, rock promoter was a neighbor when we were living in Costa Rica. Real character, knows the band, was amazed I had some of their albums. Lots of great stories.
