Great show at the Sanger a small theater here in New Orleans. It was a bigger show than I expected and he pulled out all the stops with many props and costume changes. He had a great band with him and he played all the songs you wanted to hear but it was fucking loud, the sound peaked at 98db probably the loudest concert since AC/DC except for maybe Jonny Winter.

Do you know if there are any of his original band members from the 1970's still with him?
...glad to see he is still playing.
He is the one who started it all with the costumes and the freak shows.
Nice pics! Great venue too.
I figure that was a typo.
No typo, 98dB is not loud to you?

I guess it depends if you are talking average or peak volume and what sort of weighting is involved int he measurement. I doubt that 98 db is loud for a rock concert, but it could still be umpeasant (and the peaks would probably be much higher.) This is why I always carry ear plugs with me.
For a New Orleans specific referent, at the Jazz Fest jazz tent, the level is not supposed to go over 102 db (again, I don't know exactly what is being measured) in the back of the tent at the sound booth. Back in 2008, one of the groups on my music label was performing, and I got the recording engineer to mix the sound for them (because the house guys are deaf and dumb in in my opinion.) Unfortunately, as soon as the band hit so did a massive thunderstorm. The ambient noise (from the rain and the overcrowded audience mostly in the tent to escape the storm and not listen) measured 98 db; there as literally no space for the music to be heard, and it was annoyingly loud because it was constant!
I would expect ALICE COOPER to be much louder than that, not to say I would WANT it to be.
Been to plenty of shows where I felt I was unable to think from the pressure on my body. MOGWAI stands out as the ultimate absurdly loud for loudness sake show I ever attended.
I guess if you were in the back of the hall and it was still 98 dB then it would have been really loud for the folks in front.
especially if measured at one's seat

I saw him last year at the Palms casino in LV. Good show, but I agree about the volume level. My wife and kids didnt seem to mind the volume, but I thought it was one of the loudest shows I have ever been to. He certainly can still rock after all of these years...
