I apologize for not returning everyone's emails. But I do want to acknowledge those of you who requested more attention be paid to 1986. As you point out, that was 30 years ago, though, with quality audio, it might as well be 30 days ago.
So let us return to the Fall '86 semester. The days were getting shorter, the skies were orange, and there was no rain in sight. In order to ease overcrowding, my high school had an open-campus policy. Many of us took advantage, and spent our free time off campus. And as a bonus, if you were off-campus, school rules typically did not apply, or could not be enforced. Thus, while hanging out just off campus, you could indeed bring and listen to your boombox.
I recall being with just a handful of friends, at the park adjacent to campus (above). While squinting in the hazy orange sunlight, I heard, for the first time, 'Til Tuesday's "What About Love." Now, as I was starting my sophomore year, hardly any of us had ever had a boyfriend/girlfriend. So, hearing "What About Love," despite it being well-written, just made us groan.
After that, I hardly ever heard it on the air. Even today, while radio stations overplay 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry," they overlook or do not know about "What About Love."
Enjoy,
-Lummy The Loch Monster

If you like that, have you got into Aimee mann's solo stuff? (she is the singer)I was unaware of her until I read about her in one Nick Hornby's books, (some years ago now). She is good, although I overdid it buying most of he r albums in a couple of weeks
Excellent -Lummy!
