Guitar Slim's million selling record from early 1954.It was recorded in 1953 for Art Rupes' Specialty Records out of Los Angeles but recorded in New Orleans as Art went there in 1952 looking for talent.The cut was arranged by a young Ray Charles who plays piano and that's him with the " Yeah " at the end of the track.
Follow Ups:
St. Louis to Liverpool is in my current rotation. Didn't realize it was a cover 'til I saw this. Thanks! (I should read liner notes.)

Thanks! for sharing -dean martin.
I live in the Prattville area and read you are in lower Alabama.
Are you in Mobile?
I'm in the Atmore area near the FL line. Do you remember Back Trax in Montgomery? I think that was the name of it. It was an independent record store owned by a guy named Phil. I used to live down the road from it off Atlanta Highway.
I travel through your area quite a bit. If you ever want to meet and have a listening session, let me know.
Next, time you find yourself in M'gomery and want to meet and talk Audio,
let me know. Take care.
Thanks! for your reply.
Yes, I used to spend much time w/ Phil @ Back Trax- great shop and he was very cool and knowledgable.
I can remember he closed shop because of Circuit City & Best Buy eating into his profits. I sure wished he was around now, would be doing quite well. I do not know if Phil is still in this area?
Cookin' for sure, as it has a strong New Orleans feel.
Didn't SRV cover this wonderful song?

I enjoyed it then and again now....
