I just got the Ayre QX-5 Twenty and it should be ready for action by the end of this week. I ordered an SOtM sMS-200 2 weeks ago and waiting for shipment.
Follow Ups:
This should be very interesting. I wonder if Charles partnered with someone in creating the QX-5 Twenty. His forte is not 'digital' as best I know but the QB-9 DSD DAC was a major hit, as was the older QB-9. I -think- he partnered with Gordon on the QB-9, not sure if he did with the newer QB-9 DSD.
I recall when Dennis Had was still running Cary (retired long ago), they partnered with some contract engineer for their digital products. Dennis made some awesome sounding tube gear but 'digital' was not his thing. I think this might be true of many established and well respected analog guys.
I'm just speculating and wondering. Maybe you'll get the inside scoop Ayre.
He hired digital and software people that are excellent and employees. You can see Michael interviewing these folks in the Ayre videos at AS.

So you already have the inside scoop! ;-) Thanks!
You can also see videos with Charley discussing how he got connected with the Russian company to make the clock for the DAC.
I'll look for that video. Hopefully it's not a Russian Trojan horse designed to hack our political system thru network connected audiophile streamers & DACs. ;-)
