Very close in price to Brooklyn.
One review described Brooklyn as Dry sounding, and that the Moon was more 3D and smoother, more analog like.
Has regular 2V Output, Mytek has 5 V Out, harder to find sweet-spot in PB Volume.
Does DSD 4x, like the Brooklyn.
Anyone here have /heard one?

I've had a 280d in my system since April 2016 and love it. It replaced a Logitech Transporter and made a believer out of me on the qualities that can be projected through a better DAC. Tonal nuances, spatial cues, dynamic range, and the wide range of recording qualities in my collection.
It's also a lot less wonky than the Logitech interface and linked-up just fine to my NAS box downstairs. All of my music is FLAC/ALAC, at least redbook quality. The MIND software is nothing like JRiver but it's easy enough to use on my iPad. Though I am not positive, I believe I can run it from JRiver but have not tinkered too much - too busy listening.
Overall system is a 4x3Tb ReadyNAS, the 280d, and a Jolida 801 (with a capacitor upgrade) powering Aerial Acoustics 6t speakers. An old Thorens TD166 Mk II plays occasionally.
Easy to recommend the 280d w/Mind: well made, easy to use, and great sounding. Not cheap, but I'm now a believer.
I've hesitated to post because I have not listened to the 280D. But the couple of times that I have listened to music through a Moon DAC it has been some of the best sound I have heard.
I couldn't tell you model numbers or associated equipment and such like that. I can only say that they always left a very positive impression on me like few components have.
If I was in the market for a DAC and had the budget for the 280D I would make sure that at the very least I demoed it and with regards to my experience with Moon DACs I'd probably take a chance a get one even without an audition.
Cheers,
Scott
Thanks! The local dealer has a return/restocking fee, so while it could cost me some to return it, I wouldn't be stuck with it.
It has the usual 2 V output, while the Mytek Brooklyn is around 5V, same as 192/DSD Dac, which I don't really like very much.
Also Brooklyn would benefit from after market DC power supply, more $.
I don't know what else there is at $2000+ to audition that would be better and have 4x DSD.
Exasound is $3500...
Yeah, I think the MiND streamer really puts the 280D at the head of the class. I hope you get a chance to check it out.
Beyond great sound and function Moon components really have great build quality as well as a great warranty.
Cheers,
Scott
I've always been a fan of Simaudio digital, but when MIND came out it was feature-poor. Now, in the latest version, they finally have Tidal and on-device storage of the playlist/queue. Those were two must-haves for me. The 380D also has a good quality volume control, making it a candidate to replace my Linn.
