Been using "Classics on line" for streaming for the last 6 months and I enjoy it a lot.
I must mention that my internet speed is not great (4 Mbps)
For the last 2 days I have been trying Tidal and I am most disappointed
with the audio quality, first it stops now and then and the audio quality is not as good. Classics on line" use adaptive streaming which is exactly what it says. They also have high rez up to 24/192. Tidal is purely 16/44
I am disapointed with Tidal as I was hopping that it could take over from Classicson line when they reduces the number of classical labels available at month end. Audio is complicated.

I can say unequivocally that TIDAL sounds as good as CD I stream off of my Synology NAS. I never experience any dropouts, and the TIDAL user interface and bio feeds are very nice. In addition, I'm able to stream TIDAL in my Auralic Lightning DS mobile software that I use on my iPad mostly, which combines TIDAL and my private music library behind the UPnP NAS media center. I couldn't be happier with TIDAL as a CD resolution service, short of streaming more 24/48 or 24/196 files...or better yet those same resolutions over MQA using the bandwidth of 16/44 FLAC files...that is, if MQA actually ever becomes reality, or is even necessary with the performance of today's DAC's that use good 32bit/384K upsampling filters.
Having said all that, everything starts with the high bandwidth internet service, and LAN connections that do not represent a chokepoint in the data throughput. I don't think interruptions would be TIDAL's fault.
Aside from the streaming throughput made possible by the network, some people using laptop or workstation computers have interrupt issues caused by firewall settings, or they have too many, or conflicting background computer processes running, which introduces latency or severe interruptions that compromises a continuous full bandwidth buffered audio data stream.

I have been streaming Tidal for a few years and not had any issues (dropouts or otherwise). I think it sounds better than the mp3 based streaming services I have tried in the past but I can't say it sounds identical to CD. I have compared CDs ripped to my MacBook Pro (FLAC) using JRiver 21 and when comparing to the identical song on Tidal, I hear some slight differences. I think the ripped CD sounds little more transparent and detailed but the difference is slight. Overall, I very much enjoy Tidal.
Are you streaming into a computer? I also canceled Tidal as it sounded no better than Spotify at 320kps. However, this was only through my Bluesound Node. Squeezebox Classic is very good and my computer into a HRT MusicStreamer is very good at 320k, but neither are as good as the Node. The Node presents very high quality 320kps IMO.
I have been listening to Tidal HD for several months now and have never had an issue with SQ. I also have Broadband Cable ISP. No speed issues at all.
Whatever sounds good...do that.
I couldn't stand it anymore, I cancelled it as well just today.
and yes, in order of SQ:
ClassicsOnlineHD - 24/96 and up
QOBUZ - 16/44.1
TIDAL - 16/44.1
Google 'Tidal Universal's Audible Watermark' and have your life ruined.

I always heard the compression, I thought something was wrong, well I cancelled it. screw them. I'm not dealing with watermarks.
once they even THINK they hear something, they can't 'unhear' it.
Something is wrong with your setup. I use both streaming services and Tidal has always been the more reliable. Soundwise they are almost the same. Are you streaming over wifi or with a direct connection? Your internet speed is extremely slow.

I don't think I've experienced a dropout on Tidal, wired or wireless. But then I've never tried it with a 4Mbps connection. Mine is 25Mbps.
I have two internet connections (belt and suspenders): one, the phone company is 10Mbps; two, Comcast is 80 Mbps. I have never had problems with Tidal on either connection with any device. Sometimes I'll have problems with ClassicsOnline on the slower connection. On a few occasions Tidal has not had good sound quality, but it has been rare.
I will miss the catalog of ClassicsOnline, but Tidal is an acceptable alternative in my experience. I was comparing SQ between Tidal, Apple Music and Spotify using the new MTT/SFS album of Debussy (I couldn't find it on Tidal last night but I see it's there now). ClassicsOnline has it as 16/44.1 only, yet it still sounded much better than either Spotify and Apple Music. I'll compare Tidal tonight.
