WTF?!? Isn't the sane response to slap down the guy asking who's going to assassinate the POTUS?
What the fuck is wrong with the right wing in this country?
Stupidity is NOT a victimless crime.
Follow Ups:
Assasination would make him a hero/martyr so that is defintely the wrong approach from a political standpoint, never mind morally reprehensible. What is really needed is a humiliating politcal defeat in 2012 which will put the progressives out of the picture for another generation.
One can only hope.
d.b.
assassination, as opposed to the ONLY reason?
Comforting to know!
Heaven knows an idea being morally reprehensible wouldn't change any minds on the Far Right. All's fair in defense of the republic, even ripping it apart.

My reaction wasn't to the question... sadly that's no longer shocking... it was to the Congressman's tacit approval of the question.
Stupidity is NOT a victimless crime.
As far as he knew, the guy might shoot him if he confronted him.

This sounds like some of the posters at Outside Asylum!
"Out of all of the members Congress, Broun has used perhaps the most vitriolic rhetoric to describe his political opponents, including Obama. He has previously said that Democrats want to take over “all of society,” that the president was spewing “venom” at the State of the Union, that the stimulus and health care laws were going to “kill” the elderly, that clean energy legislation would make southerners die from hyperthermia, and has compared Obama to Hitler, complete with a claim that the president is secretly assembling a version of the Hitler Youth."
It also seems that the Secret Service has determined that the question was "in poor taste" but not much of a threat.

Of course it is and there are a lot of crazy people out there that would say or do anything for a few bucks. He obviously didn't threaten anyone or he would have been hauled off to jail. I see the progressive movement as very desperate and willing to try anything to discredit conservatives in the public eye.I'm not saying this was the case here however,I am seeing a lot of crazy things happen as of late.

Nobody said it was a plant. What I did say was,it wouldn't surprise me if it was.Hell, you even have doctors out in the streets writing medical excuses for striking teachers saying they are suffering mental anguish and cant work. This is right on national TV. Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.
I see that polls measuring her favorability are dropping like a rock, too.
She should have taken the high road and said her use of certain language and certain imagery on her website were perhaps not the best choices she could have made.
But she's such a clueless, empty-headed novice, I guess we can't fault her too much that she didn't.
Oh well, you live and learn, I guess.
Then why are you progressives trying to demonize her? Could it be that the progressive movement has failed miserably and now you are trying to deflect attention from yourselves? Thats what it shaking out to be.I have never seen anyone so obsessed with a soccer mom of five kids put so much fear and animosity into a political movement. You guys better beware. You are depleting all your monetary resources that you are going to need in the future.BTW,your poll that you put out there, here is another one that shows more democrats than republicans.Which one is right?
Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.
If you want to start cherry-picking individual polls, I can show you ten in the next ten minutes that says the opposite of the one you just showed me. The point, however, you missed. Even if the average is slightly higher or lower depending on the one you choose, you still can't say that a majority of the country is center right. No poll will say that because the best that either party will do is still going to be below 50%.
Moving on, don't try to blame the trainwreck that is Sarah Palin on us. It was YOU idiots who put this woefully unqualified buffoon up in our faces, and rather than blame us for it, you should take responsibility for what you've done.
Maybe you should run for public office.BTW,being a party affiliate does not determine your political philosophy. There are many conservative democrats just as there are liberal republicans.I say we are a center right country just from most of the policy that was adopted the last 50 years. We know there are way more conservatives than there are liberals and I am sure you will try to argue that to.
Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.
You can start with all the conservative legislation that has been passed in the last 50 years.
Like the Civil Rights Act.
Like Health Care Reform.
Like the Social Security Amendments of 1965 (Medicaid).
Like the Clean Air Act.
Like the Voting Rights Act.
And on and on and on.
I can't wait. This ought to be good.
BTW, it's pretty hard for you to argue, at this point, that I wasn't right about your insisting on remaining ignorant about this point, isn't it? Even though you've been shown to be wrong about this, you still believe what you want to believe, no amount of evidence to the contrary will dissuade you from holding on to your beliefs, and despite being shown concrete evidence to the contrary (some of which has been provided by you), you came back here, as predicted, and stated that you still believe the opposite of what's actually true.
A guy like you can't be reached.
Ok
The civil rights act was actually started by the GOP in the 1950s
How about reduced tax rates
How about deregulation of the phone and airline industry where now you can get free unlimited long distance where before, your bills for long distance could approach 500 dollars a month in many cases
How about the best Military on earth, which was basically a joke in the carter days and thanks to conservatives we won the arms race.
How about IRAS with tax free investment. I like mine.
How about ending welfare as we know it?
How about the fact that people keep voting down gay marriage?
How about defending the right bare arms?
These aren't progressive programs as you might think
Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.

And who still, even today, are on record as stating that it should be repealed (see e.g., Rand Paul).Obama reduced my taxes.
Bill Clinton ended welfare as we know it.
Bill Clinton signed into law the telecommunications act that deregulated the telephone industry.
Jimmy Carter and his appointee, Alfred E. Kahn, deregulated the airlines.
People don't keep voting down gay marriage -- it's legal in roughly a fifth of the states starting from a number of zero 15 year ago.
Democrats appropriate money for military spending at the same rate that Republicans do.
Let me know when you finally come up with a list that works, dude.
I'll be right here waiting for it.

yes you are right that Obama reduced taxes and clinton ended welfare and deregulated phone companies
The question was, whether or not we are a center right country and those legislations are center right. It doesn't matter who passed it. The progressives were mad as hell he passed those things. Maybe this will shed more light on it for you.

After the article tees up the question it says:
"The only problem: It isn't true."
Duh, thanks, that's what I've been saying.
Good idea to read what you want to use to support your argument before you start tossing it around willy nilly.
Dude
All these things passed were done against the will of progressives. You constantly bitch about deregulation, and yet you are implementing the fact that Carter and Clinton engaged in it
How about Obama extending the Patriot act?
How about Obama extending the tax cuts for everyone including the top 2%?
How about Obama not cutting the military budget in favor of more social spending
You seem to want to take credit for all the things you say are wrong with this country such as deregulation, and excessive military spending, and the extension of the partiot act,and now your ready to take credit for it. What gives?
Diversity of opinions on any one technical subject, almost always causes confusion for the listener.
Even if we give you the airline deregulation, which we shouldn't, because Carter did it, and even if we give you the tax issues, and welfare reform, which was pure Clinton, and even if we give you military spending, and all the rest of the stuff that's on your list, it's still just a list that is matched in number, albeit not in size, by legislative accomplishments of liberals.
In other words, you still haven't proven a damn thing.
LOOK|
Im not denying who passed it.You are the idiot here. The point of this whole post is that we are a right of center country and carter being a southern democrat was more conservative than he was liberal.
You are talking about the party of the politician and Im talking about the ideology. The things these democratic passed were not in the left of center ideology and I think you know that. This is why liberals were so pissed that Obama extended the tax cuts for all and passed the patriot act. He was forced to because of the Nov vote. We are a right of center country and this is why we don't have nationalized healthcare and massive social programs and high tax rates that other countries have.

You are an imbecile.
LOL
Keep up the name calling and bring in your allies.I would highly doubt that many liberals would agree that deregulation and tax cuts for all and extending the patriot act are ideas of the progressive movement even tho democratic presidents engaged in these things but as I have said,if you want to believe they are progressive ideas, who am I to say no.
Let me ask you one more time.If we are a left of center country, why don't we have a national HC Plan and why don't we have public transportation and why are our tax rates some of the lowest of all western nations?
WHY DON"T WE HAVE GUN CONTROL?

Imbecile.
Polls about political identification become increasingly unreliable the more politically unsophisticated the respondent:Political scientists Ellis & Stimson: 34 percent "of self-identified conservatives rejects operationally conservative beliefs" in both "social welfare" and "moral issues" areas. In a working paper titled "Pathways to Ideology in American Politics," political scientist Christopher Ellis and James Stimson studied the positions self-identified liberals and conservatives take in areas dealing with "social welfare" and "moral issues." They defined "social welfare" to include "traditional 'New-Deal' spending and redistribution issues along with issues of race and civil rights." They defined "moral issues" to include "preferences for and against abortion, gays in the military, and the rights of gays to adopt children." The found that 34 percent of conservatives took the liberal position in both the social welfare and moral issues area, while only 4 percent of liberals did not hold liberal views in either area:
Only about one in five self-identified conservatives holds consistently conservative issue positions: right of center positions on both dimensions. Put another way, almost 80% of professed conservatives are not conservative on at least one of these dimensions. A larger group (30%) of conservatives is operationally conservative only on the narrow set of issues related to traditional morality, not the broader social welfare dimension. The "economic conservatives," conservative on social welfare issues alone, are not very numerous (15%). But the largest group (34%) of self-identified conservatives rejects operationally conservative beliefs on both the social welfare and the moral issue domains. This stands in contrast to the less than 4% of self-identified liberals who hold no liberal issue views. [emphasis in original] [Ellis & Stimson working paper]

Most everyone I know listens to Fox regardless of political association. The plain truth is,the animosity toward others comes from their success, not failures.
