Just got mine from MDT. I see on Amazon it will be available in the US on 12/30--retail $19.95. It's around $16 plus shipping from MDT and available now. The lower prices are probably because the total playing time is short.
What a combination! Liszt Piano Concerto #2 and Beethoven Piano Concerto #1 with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and for you surround sound folks it's stored on the Blu-ray as 7.1 Dolby ATMOS, some sort of new sound technology. I have to stick with 24/48 PCM.
Anyway, both works are hair-raising (tossing?), exciting, and finger-breaking, and that's just the Beethoven #1! Yes, Khatia manages to do Beethoven proud and still make it into an exciting show piece. It's fun to watch Mehta and the IPO working to keep up with her. The Liszt comes off as it should, a bravura showpiece. The video quality is good, the camera work is normal, but I did notice that not as much time as I expected was spent on Khatia. Both dresses she wore (each concerto was shot at a different concert) were quite stunning, and I was somewhat worried when she bowed that there might be a wardrobe malfunction!

Yes - I mentioned this new blu-ray disc a couple of weeks ago, but my post was buried inside another thread so perhaps not too many here saw it. Basically, I'm in a quandary: in order for my system to be worthy of Khatia's new release, I need to upgrade my system from 5.1 to 11.2 (for the Dolby Atmos - I've got to put four speakers in the ceiling - or at least firing up to the ceiling - LOL!). And then there's the video itself: it's supposed to be 4K Ultra. My current HDTV set (it's NOT 4K!) is not worthy either!
I just keep saying to myself, "What will you do - what will you do???"
.
on whether or not it is 4K. And I thought the Blu-ray said 7.1. Maybe there is to me another release with all those other bells and whistles built in... You could save a few dollars and get the DVD and not worry about any of the fancy stuff. :)
I originally saw it listed on the Presto Classical site, wherein the statement is made: "this DVD [sic] has outstanding technical features such as its availability in 4K ultra HD blu-ray - a premiere in the world of classical music. The blu-ray version also comes with Dolby Atmos Technology, the new Dolby surround sound with in-ceiling speakers or Dolby Atmos enable[d] speakers.".
Believe me, I'm worried about all this fancy stuff - because I want my system (audio and video) to be worthy of Khatia! ;-)
