Follow Ups:
Jazz singers are almost never my thing, but Cyrille Aimée is so charming for her I make an exception. I heard her at the Chicago Jazz Festival (also this weekend) a few years ago, and she and her band were wonderful.
I have her Live at Smalls record from a few years ago. It is very good. I like her.
Maybe the fact that she is very good looking helps??
Thanks for the pointer on Weiss...I'm not familiar with him at all. Interesting to see somebody playing Kenny Cox's music. You also list several other names that are new to me, I'll be sure to see as many of them as possible. You also listed pretty much everyone else I thought would be definitely worth seeing based on what I already know.
I've seen Loueke a couple of times...once with Herbie (at the Hollywood Bowl) and once at the festival here, I don't remember who with. I can take him or leave him from what I've seen. I don't know any of the other folks he's playing with this time around.
Tolliver was here with his big band a few years back. Looking forward to seeing him again. And of course, it's hard to go wrong with Potter in almost any setting. It occurs to me also that I have never seen Roy live. Looks like I'll be busy!
