Anyone compare the sound quality? I see that the Warner has been remastered from original master tapes.
Thanks.

recently compared the brilliant box with the WB box, and yes, the remasterings are audibly better
Take it this would be the 'Brilliant Classics' box in question?
From Amazon....
Wow. 9 CDs and Amazon Selllers have it starting a $19.08. Plus Media Mail shipping, of course.
Not up for streaming on QOBUZ or TIDAL as yet and they usually have the big Warner Box Sets up about the time they are released by Amazon. That said, a lot of BIS titles that used to be on QOBUZ are no longer there. Guess they haven't been paying their bills. :-(
That said, the Tone Poems (above) IS on both so I can start there.
Sorry, I used to have the EMI LP's, which I replaced with the original issue EMI CD's, so I can't help you. I also have the EMI DVD-Audio of Zarathustra and the Alpine Symphony. That has quadraphonic tracks on it, and I can't remember if all of Kempe's Strauss works in Dresden had/have quadraphonic masters or just some - I remember some of the original LP sets (but maybe not all) were available in quadraphonic too. I don't imagine that Warner has any interest in remastering any or all of these quadraphonic masters - too bad for me! ;-)
Thanks for your reply, Chris. It seems that other listeners have confirmed that in the most current incarnation, Warner has remastered the original recordings in 24 bits. Everyone seems to like the increased detail and realism.
Maybe there will be some 24-bit downloads of the new re-masterings available piecemeal!
