One of the concerts I was really looking forward to this year was Bychkov conducting the SF Symphony in Bruckner's 8th. Apparently he has taken ill, and is being replaced by James Feddeck, who I read is quite young but has had some achievements in Cleveland. Has anyone seen him perform?
Follow Ups:
Yes, I've seen him here in CLE a couple of times and he did a good job both times.
I hope he'll recover before the Chicago engagement.
I am also looking forward to hearing his Bruckner/Shostakovich and Rachmaninoff next month.
Hip surgery...
"Doctors say it's too soon for long-distance travel. San Francisco and St Louis are the orchestras affected. He's still hoping to make Chicago in late April."

I also found out that Seoul Philharmonic concert was also canceled at Orchestra Hall next month due to 'lack of funding'!
we were looking to get tickets by read that here was a change but saw no announcement other than suddenly it's Feddeck.
Really bummed as I like Bychkov.
:-(
I'm a subscriber and received a card in the mail today. I am bummed too as I have seen By chaos 3 times and think he is terrific.
Didn't even know who he was at the time, he was guest conductor for the Vienna Phil when they played Zellerbach Hall a few years ago.
