Hope he's still up for a bit of guest conducting.
He looked good at the Proms, but what do we know.
"So why is he leaving? At 78, Mr. Zinman still has years left by conductors’ standards, but he has health issues that, he said, “mean my body can’t give the orchestra what it used to.”
“I’m not giving up: I’ll still guest conduct,” he continued. “But I have to take things easier. Fewer programs, not so many tours.”

I don't know. But I note that he just turned 78. So maybe he's just going out to pasture.
We were subscribers throughout his tenure in Baltimore. He gave a number of really splendid performances, and I don't remember any clunkers.
He's also a very funny man when given an open mike.
