I posted favorable comments last November on this set when I got the original German DG issue. I just listened to the K2 HD Japanese Mastering version. There seems to be an across the board improvement in sonics. The overall character is smoother yet rich and detailed. I really hate to use this audiophile cliché but the sound is more “analog like’. Sixty dollars is rather expensive for this set but K2 HD mastering brings this 1960 set up to modern audiophile standards…. well, in my opinion.
Follow Ups:
You can check out the version released by Pristine Classical. The 16-bit FLAC is 18 Euros; the higher rez (24 bit) is 30. I will have to listen again but I found this recording to be somewhat artificially enhanced.
No Kidding!
For all you know those were pimped-up Bootlegs from 16/44 CD's........
(no mention of LP's being the source - and 'the proprietor' doesn't have access to the master-tapes)
This Japanese SACD is even more expensive. I haven't heard the K2HD version, but this one is very analog sounding and similar to the best SACD or 24/192kHz transfers from analog tape that I have heard.
OUCH!

ImportCD's has it for $45.59:
