I just re-connected with the film Bleu and had forgotten about the musical score. My wife was really smitten by it and I like it, too, even if it is "new age". Can anyone recommend some more of his works?
Observe, don't think
Follow Ups:
Preisner was a major contributor to David Gilmour's last album ("On an Island"), making all the orchestral arrangements and conducting the orchestra.
This, by the way, is a sumptuously recorded album and musically enoyable, although perhaps a little bland compared with his work for Pink Floyd and his previous solo albums. One critic remarked that it sounded like the work of someone "very rich and very happy", but if you - like me - love his guitar playing you can't go wrong. I have the (excellently pressed and generously presented) vinyl LP.

Most of the CDs of his music are soundtracks from movie scores. I like his music in the movies I've seen that feature it, but I never buy soundtrack music.
The one CD of his that I do own and have listened to quite a lot is "Requiem for My Friend". The CD features outstanding solo work by soprano and saxophone. The first half is like a traditional requiem, the second half is a more modern commentary on life and the world.
I can recommend this CD, but I believe it has become rather expensive. Maybe it is OP. MP3 download might be the route to go.
"Life without music is a mistake" (Nietzsche)
It certainly seems to have some of that "pan-Baltic" sound - at least from what I've heard so far.
Leszek Mozdzer is a pianist who has done a few albums of Preisner's music. I haven't heard them, but he did a great album of improvisations on Chopin pieces. The album cover pictured here has been superseded by a much uglier one, but the music is still intact. And what music! He does virtuoso adaptations of Chopin's pieces which are strikingly original. I'm guessing that his recordings of Preisner's music are worth listening to also.
