Listening to Nancy Wilson w/Cannonball Adderley reminds me what a fantastic singer she was in her earlier years. Also her pairing w/ George Shearing
is another worth adding to the collection. Both records still floating around in the bins for $5.
Follow Ups:
Nancy (The Baby) is an aquired taste in vocal jazz. My grandmother used to play Nancy and Cannonball with my father long ago. Now, I have that LP (he currently has it) and we listen together..
...Nancy, followed by some Wes Montgomery on vinyl......ahhhh! :-)

For a newbie wanting to get familiar with Jazz or the seasoned aficionado wanting to relive all it's history. Yumm!
I didn't realize that have the series available on CDs.
which is an uncommon NW album, has a song: stay tuned (the last one on the album) which has lyrics that REALLY grabbed me. those lyrics are: "do it to me slow" that mean EXACTLY that.
it took me years to find out what album it is on.

I have been searching fot this song for over 20 years. No one believes it exists. But, i heard it on the radio and recorded a portion of it. That's how I know that it's real. I looked at "This Mother's Daughter"'s track list. I didn't see it. On which version did you find it?
thats the name of the song and its the last one on the album. i had the same difficulty finding that song after hearing it in 1976 or 7 on KLON. chuck niles had played it, and when i asked him personally about it years later, he couldnt remember the album.
after MANY years of diligently listening for it, they played it and back announced it. i bought a copy of the LP on ebay and felt triumphant.
this is in addition of fingering through a staggering number of nancy wilson LPs in used record stores. it seems she made a prodigious number of albums. only about five years after getting my copy from ebay did i find one in a used record pile.
below is a link to one on evay right now. i searched -nancy wilson this mother's daughter- and it was the first one.
